Reiki Healing
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique of working with the bodies energy field to promote relaxation, reduce stress, alleviate pain, and ease anxiety. Reiki promotes a positive mental state and stimulates your body’s ability to heal itself. The Usui System is a way of working with reiki for the healing of self and others.
Reiki addresses the whole person on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.
Reiki is not massage, nor is it based on belief, any religion, or suggestion (like hypnotherapy).

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei), which means “Universal Life” and (Ki), which means “Energy.” Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice.
Did You Know Many Cutting-edge Hospitals use Reiki?
Reiki has been used in a variety of hospital settings, including emergency rooms, pre-op, operating rooms, post-op, oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, internal medicine, and hospice at hospitals such as Johns Hopkins, The Mayo Clinic, and Mount Sinai to name just a few.
What is Karuna Ki Reiki?
The basic principle of Karuna Ki is the connection to (and becoming) the embodiment of compassion both for healing self and others. Karuna Ki Reiki is heart-centered healing.
The love and compassion that emanates from the Universe is known as Karuna, a loving force that can produce profound healing when combined with Reiki. Karuna is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘Compassion in Action.’ Like Reiki, Karuna Ki Reiki heals at an energetic level and can remove negative emotions and beliefs. It heals far deeper than Traditional Usui Reiki and is perfect for healing emotions and the energetic body at a far deeper level than traditional Reiki. It is wonderful if you want to experience a deep feeling of love and compassion.

What to Expect During a Reiki Session?
In-Person vs Distance Sessions
During an in-person session, the client is fully clothed, either lying down or sitting, and the practitioner's hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body. Reiki involves energy work, similar to that of acupuncture, but without the needles. An in-person session usually lasts between 45 minutes to an hour. Loose, comfortable clothing is suggested.
A distance Reiki session is done with the patient usually at home, lying comfortably in a quiet place. The Reiki practitioner is conducting the session from another location. In order to allow the patient to relax fully without distractions no phone call is used during the session. We will review all questions before and after the session. A distance session usually lasts between 30 to 45 minutes.
Patients often report that a Reiki session feels like tingling waves of energy pulses, or a warm sensation, and is extremely relaxing. Falling asleep is common! Occasionally people report seeing beautiful colors as well.
What to Expect After your Session?
Many people feel calm, peaceful, with tremendous clarity after a session. Initially, directly following the session, you may feel sleepy. It's recommended to drink plenty of water following your session.
How does Reiki Work?
Since all living things are made of energy it's believed that Reiki is related to electromagnetic energy and that it interacts with a person's electromagnetic field. According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. A Reiki practitioner's vibration, or frequency, may also raise the vibration of the patient's energy to match the same frequency.
Hundreds of hospitals and medical facilities throughout the world offer Reiki as an alternative or complementary treatment. This article talks about some interesting studies if you want to read more.

Animal Reiki
Reiki can be used to greatly benefit your pets, as well. During an in-person Reiki session for your pet, the practitioner will either sit in the room with your pet or, if they permit it, will gently pet the animal during the session. Either way, most animals relax and even fall asleep. Practitioners follow the animal’s lead, so treatments can vary from pet to pet. Animals are very open to the energy of Reiki and sessions can last up to an hour or more.
